Deck staining in Peachland is often a bigger job than it looks from the street. Many homes here are built on slopes, and the deck is the main outdoor living space: wide, high off the ground and facing Okanagan Lake with full sun for much of the day. That exposure greys and dries wood quickly. We clean and brighten the boards, strip failing coatings where needed, sand rough areas and apply a stain suited to the wood and the look you want.
We also stain cedar fences, railings, pergolas, privacy screens and wood siding on homes across Peachland. Staining depends on the weather, so we book it from late spring to early fall when the wood is dry and temperatures suit the product. You get a written quote and clear advice on when furniture can go back and how often the surface will need maintenance.
Elevated decks on hillside lots need safe access to the underside, joists and stair stringers, plus protection for the patio or landscaping below. Railings and spindles can take as long as the floor itself. We include all of it in the quote so you know exactly what is covered.
On a sunny lake-facing deck, the walking surface takes the most UV and foot traffic, so it fades well before the railings or fence. We often suggest a heavier-bodied stain on the floor and a lighter maintenance coat on vertical surfaces, which keeps the colour even across the whole deck.
Larger lots in Upper Peachland and around town can have long runs of cedar or rail fencing. We clean first, then spray and back-brush to work the stain into the grain efficiently, protecting gardens, siding and the neighbour's side of the line as we go.
We stain decks, fences and railings throughout Peachland. Lakeside homes in Downtown and near Beach Avenue tend to have smaller decks with heavy sun and moisture exposure. Trepanier and Turner Hill homes often have fenced yards, Ponderosa view homes have large upper decks, and Upper Peachland properties bring longer fence lines and outbuildings that can be stained in the same visit.
Staining costs in Peachland depend on deck size and height, the number of railings and spindles, the condition of the old finish, whether stripping is needed, and the length of any fence. Solid stain over badly weathered wood needs more prep. The wood has to be dry, so schedules can shift after rain. We give a free written estimate and book work from late spring to early fall.

Late spring is ideal because the deck is protected before the strongest sun and you can use it all season. Early fall also works once the heat eases. We avoid the hottest afternoons in midsummer, since stain on very hot boards dries before it can soak in.
Yes. The deck needs to stay clear of furniture and foot traffic for a short time after staining, so many part-time owners have us do it just before they arrive or right after they leave. We confirm the cure time with your quote.
Yes. Some fences, especially older ones with previous paint on them, are better painted than stained. We look at the fence during the estimate and recommend paint or a solid stain based on its condition and what coating is already there.
