Exterior painting in Vernon has to survive more than summer sun. Colder North Okanagan winters bring more freeze-thaw cycles than Kelowna sees, and that is where cheap paint jobs fail: water gets into open joints and bare wood, freezes, and pushes the paint off. Our prep focuses on sealing the house: scraping loose paint, caulking gaps, priming bare wood and repairing stucco cracks before two coats of exterior paint. Newer stucco homes get the same attention to cracks and joints.
Most homes take two to five days, and the best season runs from late spring to early fall. Up here that window can start a little later and close a little earlier than down the valley, so booking early matters. Travel from Kelowna, about 45–50 minutes, is included in most quotes, and every job starts with a free written estimate.
Every winter, cracks, open miters and gaps at window sills become paths for water that freezes and expands. We caulk joints, prime every bare spot and pay close attention to the bottom edges of siding and trim, where snow sits against the house the longest.
Older East Hill homes often carry many layers of paint on wood siding, fascia and window trim, and those layers crack and lift with age. We scrape and sand back to a sound surface, flag rotted boards for repair and prime bare wood so the new coat has something solid to hold.
Paint needs dry surfaces and temperatures above the product minimum. Cool spring nights and early fall frosts in the North Okanagan trim the usable season at both ends, so we start later in the morning, stop before evening dew and plan larger houses for the warmest stretch of summer.
We paint house exteriors all over the city: wood-sided character homes on East Hill, acreage and family homes in Coldstream, hillside homes in Bella Vista and Turtle Mountain with tall walls facing Okanagan Lake, and newer stucco builds in Okanagan Landing and Predator Ridge. Lake-facing and high, exposed walls take the most weather, so we look at those closely during the estimate.
Exterior cost in Vernon depends on how much scraping and priming the siding needs, wall height on sloped lots in Bella Vista and Turtle Mountain, stucco repairs, and the number of colours. Older East Hill wood homes take more prep time than newer stucco homes. Most houses take two to five days. Travel is included in most quotes, and booking in spring gives you the best choice of summer dates.
